How to apply to a medical university in Ukraine
What you can do today: check whether you qualify, start gathering your documents and send us a free candidate profile. This guide tells you what to check, and where.
Your steps, starting today
- Choose your course. Start with medicine (often searched as MBBS), or see all courses.
- Check whether you qualify. Ask the university about its entry requirements for your qualification, and check with the regulator in the country where you plan to work. See eligibility below.
- Start gathering documents. Use the list below and check each item against the university's own list.
- Send us your candidate profile. It is free. Tell us your course, your subjects and grades so far, and your questions in the Apply Online form. We reply by email with answers and suggested next steps, and we say plainly what we have not yet verified.
- Apply only through the university's own procedure. Send documents and payments only where the university's official website tells you to. See how to recognise official channels.
MBBS in Ukraine eligibility: what decides whether you qualify
Entry requirements are specific to the university, the programme, your school-leaving qualification and the year you start, so there is no single list for “medicine in Ukraine”. Admission decisions are made solely by the university.
On the university's programme page or admission rules, check:
- which school subjects it asks for (for example biology or chemistry) and the minimum grades;
- how it reads your grading scale, and what it accepts if some of your results are still to come;
- whether there is an entrance test or interview, and its format;
- the language level it asks for, and how you can show it;
- whether the programme is open to applicants from your country for your intake.
Then check the other side. Whether the qualification is accepted and whether you can register to practise are decided by the authorities in the country where you plan to work, not by the university or by us. Read the regulator's current rules on its own website before you apply. Applying from India? Read Is NEET required? and Is an MBBS from Ukraine valid in India?
A verified profile on this site shows each requirement with its official source and the date we checked it. More answers on cost, duration and recognition are in the FAQ.
Documents to start gathering — check each against the university's own list
This is a starting point, not any university's list. Ask the university for its list for your programme and intake.
- Passport. Ask whether it must stay valid for a set period.
- School-leaving certificate and transcript or mark sheet, with your subject grades.
- Birth certificate.
- Language certificate, if you have one (for example English).
- Medical certificate. Ask which tests and which form the university wants.
- Passport-style photographs.
- If you are transferring or applying for postgraduate study: transcripts from your earlier studies.
- Translations, notarisation and legalisation or an apostille. Ask which documents need them, into which language, and who may certify a translation.
Do not send original documents to anyone until the university's own procedure asks for them. Please do not email us scans of your passport or certificates either: the Apply Online form lets you mark each document as have, need or not sure, and we answer document questions by email.
Check on the university's own website
| Topic | What to look for |
|---|---|
| Teaching language | The teaching language of your programme, on the university's programme page. |
| Intake and deadline | The intake dates and the application deadline for the year you plan to start. |
| Fees | The university's own fee schedule for your intake. How to read a fee schedule. |
Preparatory and foundation routes
Some Ukrainian universities may offer a preparatory (foundation) course for foreign applicants. If you are considering one, ask the university for its length, subjects, teaching language and fee, and for its own written wording on what completing the course leads to. Do not assume it guarantees a place on a degree programme: ask whether the degree's own entry requirements still apply to you.
What we can and cannot promise
We can answer your questions and suggest next steps. We cannot guarantee admission, a visa, a scholarship, recognition of a qualification or employment. We will never tell you an application has reached a university unless it has. Our disclosure explains how we work.
Apply through official channels only
Some websites use a university's name in their address without being the university. Find the official website from the domain the university publishes about itself, or from a Ukrainian government register, not from an advert, a social-media page or an agency's copy of the site. Check the address before you send anything. Admission documents and payments go only through the university's own published procedure.
